Frequently Asked Questions
What is your lead time?Â
We’re currently about 120 days out due to demand — every unit is built to order and produced in sequence.
If you’re on a tighter timeline, we do offer a priority build option that moves your order ahead in production, typically delivering in 45–60 days for an additional fee.
Where are these made?
We manufacture our campers overseas by design — not as a shortcut, but as a way to deliver more value where it matters.
By building in facilities with advanced equipment and lower operating costs, we’re able to invest more into the actual product — better materials, tighter tolerances, and more refined construction — without passing inflated labor and overhead costs onto you.
The result is a higher-quality camper at a price point that would be difficult to achieve domestically.
How much does it weigh?Â
Our campers are designed to stay lightweight without sacrificing strength.
Most builds come in around 340 lbs for a midsize short bed, up to about 450 lbs for a full-size 8’ bed, depending on configuration. Options like glass doors will add a bit more weight compared to our aluminum MOLLE panels.
We use all-aluminum construction to keep weight down, making it easier on your truck while still being built for real use.
Our Frontline topper weighs in at only 140 pounds!
What trucks are you campers compatible with?
We build our campers to fit virtually all truck platforms — midsize and full-size — at no additional cost.
Each unit is matched to your specific truck to ensure proper fitment, so whether you’re running a Tacoma, F-150, RAM, or similar, we’ve got you covered.
Do you offer custom builds or modifications?Â
Absolutely.
We offer a range of proven upgrade packages — including lighting, full electrical systems (aux batteries, inverters, switch panels), and water setups with hot showers — so you’re not starting from scratch. We also have options like awnings and exterior accessories.
We can also accommodate custom sizing and heights if you’re running a roof rack or have a unique setup. Just let us know your configuration and how you’d like it to fit, and we’ll build around it.
If you want to take it further, we can go fully custom and even coordinate complete build-outs through our partners. Just tell us what you’re trying to do and we’ll make it happen.
Are they dust and waterproof?Â
Yes — our campers are built to be fully weather-sealed and dust-resistant for real-world use.
We use tight panel fitment, sealed seams, and automotive-grade gaskets to keep out rain, dust, and the elements — whether you’re on the highway or off-road.
Do you offer financing?Â
Yes — we offer a few flexible options depending on what works best for you.
You can finance through Shop Pay for monthly payments, or choose our layaway option, where you can make payments over time while your camper is being built.
Can I make a deposit and pay the rest later?
Yes — this is how most of our builds work.
We start with a refundable deposit to secure your build slot (fully refundable within 48 hours). The remaining balance is due once production is completed, prior to shipping.
This lets you lock in your spot without paying everything upfront.
What is the buying process?Â
We keep the process simple and straightforward:
- Choose your setup – We’ll help you dial in the right camper, options, and upgrades for your truck and how you plan to use it.
- Secure your build slot – A refundable deposit (48 hours) locks in your place in our production schedule.
- Production begins – Your camper is built to order. Standard lead time is around 120 days, with an optional expedite option (45–60 days) if you need it sooner.
- Final payment – Once production is completed, we’ll reach out for the remaining balance prior to shipping.
- Delivery or pickup – Your camper is shipped to you or scheduled for pickup once ready.
We’ll keep you updated throughout the process (typically once every 2 weeks) so you always know where your build stands.
Can I expedite my order?Â
Yes — we offer a priority build option.
This moves your order ahead in production and typically reduces the timeline from ~120 days down to 45–60 days. Availability is limited, so let us know early if you’re working with a deadline.
How long does installation take?Â
We complete the assembly ahead of time, so when you arrive, the install is quick.
Mounting the camper to your truck typically takes about 1 hour.
For DIY customers, we provide a step-by-step install video. Most first-time installs take 3–5 hours depending on experience.
Do you ship nationwide, if so how much?Â
Yes — we offer free shipping anywhere in the lower 48.
We also ship to Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada — shipping to these locations is available at an additional cost based on destination. Just reach out and we’ll get you an exact quote.
Do I need to modify my truck?Â
In most cases, no modifications are required — our campers are designed to work with stock trucks.
If you have existing upgrades (lift kits, racks, bed accessories, etc.), fitment can vary slightly. Our team can walk through your setup and make sure everything works properly before you order.
Can the camper be easily removed on a regular basis?
Our campers are designed to be securely mounted for regular use, not for frequent removal.
While it can be removed when needed, we don’t recommend taking it on and off regularly. There are ways to make the process easier — like adding quick-connects for wiring — but most customers leave it installed and use it as part of their daily setup.
Can I do a custom color?Â
Currently we are only offering black and white for the main camper and different colors for the logo surround.Â
What warranty do you offer?Â
We offer a 1-year warranty covering workmanship and manufacturing defects.
If anything isn’t right, we’ll work with you to make it right.
How do I submit a warranty claim?Â
Just send an email to support@msjoff-road.com with details of the issue, and our team will take it from there.Â
What makes MSJ different from our competitors?Â
We focus on building a better product, not just a cheaper one.
Our campers are designed with all-aluminum construction to keep weight down, paired with thoughtful features and real-world usability. We also offer flexible customization, proven upgrade packages, and the ability to scale all the way to full build-outs.
On top of that, we keep the process simple — clear timelines, direct communication, and a team that actually helps you build something that fits how you plan to use it.
Do you offer discounts?Â
Yes — we offer a 5% discount for military and first responders as a thank you for your service.
Does it affect gas mileage?Â
There can be a slight impact, but it varies by vehicle and setup.
Because our campers are designed to be lightweight and streamlined, most customers see minimal changes in day-to-day driving. Larger trucks typically notice it even less.
How long have you been in business ?
We started in 2021 and have been building ever since.
We officially formed our LLC in 2024, and since then have delivered hundreds of campers to customers across the country (and Canada).
Do you do ambassadors?Â
Yes — we do.
If you’re interested in representing MSJ, you can apply here: Link . We’re always looking for people who are active in the community and align with what we’re building.
How many people can sleep in it?
Most setups comfortably sleep 2 adults, with some configurations accommodating small children or pets depending on the sleeping arrangement and how your interior is configured.
Can the camper handle off-road use?
Yes — our campers are designed for real-world off-road and overland use.
We use all-aluminum construction to keep weight down while maintaining strength, helping reduce stress on your truck compared to heavier campers. They’re built for trails, camping trips, long-distance travel, and off-road adventures.
That said, like any vehicle-mounted equipment, driving style and terrain matter. Extremely aggressive off-road driving or high-speed impacts can cause wear over time on any camper setup.
What maintenance is required?
We recommend periodically:
• Checking mounting hardware
• Cleaning seals and hinges
• Inspecting latches and gas struts
• Resealing areas if needed over long-term ownership
Like any off-road or outdoor equipment, regular inspection and preventative maintenance will help maximize longevity.
Can I still use my truck bed?
Yes — one of the biggest advantages of our campers is maintaining usable truck bed space.
Depending on your setup, you can still use the bed for storage, gear, coolers, tools, recovery equipment, and more. Many customers build out drawer systems, sleeping platforms, electrical systems, or modular storage around how they plan to travel and camp.
Can I sleep inside with the top closed?
Our campers are primarily designed to be used with the top deployed for maximum sleeping space and comfort.
Some customers create custom interior setups depending on their truck and configuration, but most camping/sleeping use is intended with the top open.
Are the campers insulated?
Currently, our campers are not fully insulated from the factory.
However, the enclosed design helps provide protection from wind, rain, and the elements, and many customers customize their setups with insulation, heaters, or interior build-outs depending on climate and intended use.
Can I add accessories or upgrades later?
Absolutely.
Many customers start with a simpler setup and add upgrades over time. We offer lighting packages, electrical systems, water systems, awnings, exterior accessories, and additional options that can often be added later depending on your configuration.
Can I see one in person before ordering?
Yes — we highly encourage it.
You’re welcome to visit our showroom/shop in Mesa, Arizona to see the campers in person, walk through different setups, and discuss options with our team.
We also occasionally attend events and work with ambassadors/customers around the country who may be willing to show their setups locally.
What happens if there’s an issue after delivery?
If you experience any issues after delivery, simply reach out to our team and we’ll work with you to make it right.
We stand behind our products and aim to provide long-term support, not just sell a camper and disappear afterward. Whether it’s warranty-related, replacement parts, installation questions, or general support, we’ll help walk you through the process.
